Andrew Lane’s ‘Young Sherlock Holmes’ event in Tbilisi

[WARNING: ‘FOOLISH, EXCITED RAMBLINGS OF SANI EVANS’ ALERT]

So, as I posted several days ago, English writer Andrew Lane was going to visit Georgia to promote his book series “Young Sherlock Holmes” this week.

Our local publisher “ბაკურ სულაკაურის გამომცემლობა” translated  first part of series: ‘Death Cloud’ in Georgian so it was a book presentation as well. When I fist heard about the event, I was very excited, cos I loved Torchwood Novel - Slow Decay that Andy wrote and I couldn’t believe that he was actually going to visit Tbilisi, that kind of stuff doesn’t really happen here often )))

So I went today at the event and after he gave a speech, readers had a chance to ask questions and me and Sally were the only ones who could actually understand English so I told him that we were Whovians and really glad that he visited, loved his TWD work as well as Sherlock series and was going to read ‘Red Leech’ and ‘Black ice’ and asked if he was going to write any more TWD novels or maybe do Radio Dramas. He was very happy to see that somebody actually cared, cos mostly audience had no clue what was going on and most of them were there for the painting contest XD

Later, Mr. Lane had to choose winners from best painting and best question, I thought that he would choose something related to Sherlock, I enjoyed the book very much, but had no good ideas to ask, so I choose Doctor Who subject instead. So Mr. Andy said that he was glad somebody had read his book in English, so he chose me  I was so excited and embarrassed and stuff, you know, everybody staring at you and stuff, I greeted him and he also made a remark about my Union Jack t-shirt xD They gave me my prize that I won, a pool and spa membership and he signed my book, we chatted some more about Doctor Who and how he had done some work for Torchwood magazine, I explained that I couldn’t subscribe to magazine from Georgia, also the fact that I’d have let him sign my ‘Slow Decay’ copy, but I only had an audiobook, so that was a shame. But in overall it was such a fun event, I think that he enjoyed our presence as much as we did, kind of cheered each other, had a wonderful time :] He promised to visit again if he could for next series translations, which is gonna be awesome!

Gosh, I’m so thrilled, I can’t believe I met the actual author and we spoke and stuff, so excited about tonight. I know you think it’s no big deal and don’t want to listen to my foolish rambling, but this doesn’t happen very often, so it made my day

The House that Jack Built is another good one. And have you heard the audio books? Sin Eaters is awesome, in particular. I'd recommend checking them all out. And then there are the radio plays ...

‘Ello ^

“The House That Jack Built” is waiting for me in a post right now.

I’ll get it as soon as I’ll pay the damn fee or whatever xD

I listened Radio Dramas a while ago, The Dead Line is my favorite.

And finished seven audio books the day before yesterday.

As much as I loved all of them, last two were my favorites (maybe because of more Janto) but it was still very good.

All cast members are very good at reading, I loved Burn, Eve was quite good, too, but Gareth was my favorite, his imitation of Cpt. Jack is so awesome, that a few times I was almost convinced it was John talking. Amazing.

I also can’t wait for Kai’s last two audio books to be released.

So yeah, now I’m finishing audio book of “Anything Goes”, before that and “I Am What I Am” comes to post. I keep myself busy while traveling ))

I may sound braggy or whatever, but I’m very proud that I checked them out, they are all bloody awesome and I’d recommend it to all of you.

Thanks for your advice *hugs*

areachingmemory replied to your photo: You guys, thanks for recommending, I’ve listened…

When Ianto makes some comment about the clouds…. I can’t remember what it is… Ianto’s so adorable in the first one.

Yeah, fluffy or smth, I tried to google it but I can’t find it. I wonder it there’s a transcript. I found for coma, not others. There are some good quotes in all of them.

When Ianto was talking to him while he was in a coma, it was quite heartbreaking, and than when Jack commented, ahh,  I couldn’t help it, I’ve become this girl who cries all the time, what’s wrong with me

THE RADIO DRAMAS ARE AMAZING. They’re on youtube. I’m not really a fan of the books. I own one, and I’ve listened to two audio books, and they’re not that great IMO. I also have a Torchwood comic, which was kinda cool :P

Thanks! I’ll go get them, then. Obviously this torrent isn’t going anywhere. Which book do you own?

As much as I’ve read by now, I know that The Twilight Streets is a good one and Jack’s being a big douche bag to Ianto in Undertaker’s Gift.

Just when I thought this obsession couldn’t get any worse

I just learned about the existence of all Torchwood’s novels, audio books and radio dramas. I have read about books before, but now I know all the synopsis, cause I’ve spent whole day on Wikipedia. I’m already downloading audio stuff via torrent. My Amazon Wish List is full, read customer reviews and already know where more Janto relationships can be found, which means, that I planned to collect some money by selling my stencil tees and buying those used books (15) one by one.

If one day they find me dead, tell them that cause was the obsession.
